Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton notified more than 100 Texas companies that they may be in violation of a state data broker registration law. AUSTIN — The Texas attorney general’s office has notified more than 100 state companies that they appear to be in violation of a new law requiring them to register as data brokers, Attorney General Ken Paxton said Tuesday.

Earlier this month, Paxton created a team to focus on aggressive enforcement of privacy laws. He also opened an investigation into car manufacturers after news reports found some collected driver data from vehicles and sold the information to third parties, including insurance providers, without customers’ knowledge., Austin Bureau Correspondent.
