COURTESY STANDARDAERO BUSINESS AVIATION — Site preparation work has begun for a new, $33-million, 80,500-square-foot hangar and engine shop at 1150 Hangar Rd., adjacent to the Augusta Regional Airport in Georgia., a provider of business aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul services, is spreading its wings at Augusta Regional Airport in Georgia.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held at the site of the new facility recently and attended by local dignitaries, including Augusta Mayor Garnett Johnson, as well as leaders from Georgia’s state government, airport brass and employees, and the Augusta Economic Development Authority. The expansion includes hangar space for aircraft and avionics MRO work, an additional engine shop, offices, increased parking and more. It will also allow StandardAero – which is owned by global investment firm Carlyle – to work on larger aircraft.

To get the facility built, the airport and AEDA secured a grant for site preparation work and construction, and over a 10-year period the State of Georgia will apply job tax credits for incremental employees added to the site, plus additional incentives.
