I think it is way too late and inadvisable for the United States to follow the advice of our first president to avoid entangling alliances. A lot has changed since the 1790′s and we are part owners of the mess we find ourselves in today. We haven’t been innocent pilgrims in the community of nations since George Washington left office.
Since the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans ceased being our first line of defense “Fortress America” was no longer an option. Getting our own strong man to join in a club with our current enemies Russia and China should not be an option. That option would lead to a rude awakening. The leaders of Russia and China are not our friends but are our most dangerous enemies.
