EMILY GLASSCOCK CITY OF ENTERPRISE As part of national Farmers’ month, the Enterprise Farmers Market vendors were honored Saturday with a luncheon at the Enterprise Civic Center.
“You could ask every producer across the state of Alabama, the country, or even the world to describe the meaning behind the word ‘farming,’ and every single answer would be different,” Community Services Coordinator Birgit Briggs said. “Past, future, passion, love, livelihood, rewarding, and challenging come to mind. Everyone in agriculture has their own mental picture around the word ‘farming’ based on the life they have lived, the lessons they have learned, and the future they hope for.
Since Briggs took over in 2004, the Enterprise Farmers Market has gone through several changes, including moving to the permanent structure at 525 N. Main Street. “I want to take this opportunity to thank each one of you for your tireless efforts and your passion for farming,” Briggs told the more than 30 vendors in attendance.
