The Special Investigation Unit has raided the offices of the Dawid Kruiper Municipality in Upington, Northern Cape, as part of an investigation into procurement processes and around 24 municipal contracts.SIU spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago confirmed that the unit also seized officials’ cell phones during the operation.
“The SIU has reason to believe that the normal route of requesting information and documents would not have yielded positive results, hence it was deemed necessary to approach the court for a search and seizure warrant,” Kganyago explained.
