EVs are new, and they have fans and detractors, so there are plenty of myths and misconceptions out there, particularly among those who have never owned an EV. Before I bought an EV, people told me I wouldn’t really understand it until I got one, and I scoffed—I make my living understanding new technology—but they were right.
On top of this, though, there are myths still spouted by people who do drive EVs, or even work in the industry. Today, we’ll look at myths about charging and batteries, which is the biggest source of confusion. Most of that confusion derives from “gasoline thinking” which is in all our heads after a lifetime of knowing how energy in cars works with fossil fuel.People thing EV charging takes much longer than filling with gasoline.
Hotels need to be ready for that world, which means letting people reserve charging time with the room. Since many guests come early and some come late, they can probably even put 2 cars per station, but better to just have more, slower stations than fewer, faster ones.
