Last week Tameside council began creating an improved space for businesses and visitors in the town's centre. Work includes replacing the fixed market stall on the outdoor market with parasols, and opening up the area to create a more flexible space for community events.
READ MORE: The village 'cut off' from the rest of Greater Manchester due to constant cancelled trains These include the removal of four of six fixed market stalls and the installation of a more flexible parasol provision, with two of the existing fixed stalls remaining in place. Funding of £737,000 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and the Hyde Accelerator Programme is being used to progress these works.
