A woman in Victoria hopes to spread positivity on social media, where she’s lauding two men who spent hours cleaning up graffiti on a sign belonging to her family’s business.
“It was across a big chunk of it, smeared purple stuff,” she said. “I was thinking about my grandmother. She would have been devastated.” “You never know who you’re going to communicate with, but I thought I really wanted to clean up that sign. I’ve cleaned graffiti off the sign lots. It happens all the time, but this is the first time there were tents next to it.”So, on Saturday, a few days after she “heightened up to talk” to the people camping there, she walked over equipped with rags and paint thinner.
“It was so sweet … this guy was so polite and spent hours making it look so nice again. He told me about his grandmother, and he and his friend were both proudly Indigenous men. They were just really helpful and kind,” she said.“I gave them both a little bag of crystals … they didn’t want anything. They thought the crystals were so cool. They weren’t itching to get something out of it,” she said.
