AVON LAKE, Ohio -The final implosion at a power plant in Avon Lake incidentally sent destruction across the street, shattering a small business storefront.The final implosion of the former Avon Lake Power Plant took place around 5:30 a.m. Thursday.
She remembers almost floating out of bed and back to the shop after an officer came to her house early in the morning to break the news.She says a crew member guessed it was a concussion of air sent across Lake Road when the second smoke stack fell. “I was just sitting here for 10, 15 minutes because I didn’t even know what to do because the glass was just hanging there,” said Clifford.The final implosion at a power plant in Avon Lake incidentally sent destruction across the street, shattering a small business storefront.“Then a guy showed up from ALERG, and he was like, ‘We got somebody coming, we’re going to take care of ya,’ and then the mayor came,” said Clifford.
“That’s the greatest part about being a small business owner, is being a part of a community and we support each other; at the end of the day, I’m down to support my community, and they’re showing me they’re down to support me and that’s awesome,” said Clifford.
