Perdasama, a Malaysian association for Bumiputera businessmen, will continue its efforts to support and empower the community. It urges government collaboration with NGOs in policymaking and proposes expanding government aid to Bumiputra corporations in high-tech industries.

The Malay Businessmen and Industrialists Association of Malaysia (Perdasama) is set to continue in its vital role as a liaison between the government and Bumiputera entrepreneurs, leading the charge in empowering the community.

Perdasama president Mohd Azamanizam Baharon said that the association, now counting 27,263 members across the country, remains dedicated to supporting and promoting government initiatives and policies at both the state and federal levels, to bolster the standing of Bumiputra entrepreneurs. Azamanizam also urged the government to actively engage non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in policy-making, especially those centred on Bumiputra development, to ensure a more holistic implementation through the Bumiputra Economic Council (MEB). Perdasama, along with other Bumiputra NGOs, should be included in the process of shaping and determining government policies, stated Azamanizam. He marked this as an agenda to champion in 2025, strongly encouraging government representatives to participate in meetings focusing on Bumiputra initiatives. He expressed these views during Perdasama's 26th annual general meeting held on Saturday (Dec 28). Regarding the meeting, Azamanizam revealed that Perdasama has suggested the extension of government aid schemes and grants, especially to Bumiputra corporations in high-tech industries, renewable energy, and businesses driven by artificial intelligence (AI). Azamanizam further stressed the need to broaden the market reach of Perdasama members, utilising Malaysia’s chairmanship of Asean next year to unlock regional opportunities. 'The Asean market should be prioritised, especially with Malaysia heading Asean in 2025. It presents an excellent opportunity for Perdasama to work closely with the government,' Azamanizam said.
