Flora's Market Run, a midtown restaurant and grocer launched by the team behind Prep and Pastry, has permanently closed. Owner Nathan Ares announced the closure on social media, attributing it to the challenging economic climate for grocery businesses. He cited supply chain issues and price increases as major hurdles, stating that as a small, independently owned market, he couldn't compete with larger corporations.
Ares made several attempts to adapt, downsizing the market, adding a juice bar, and even transforming it into an event space, but ultimately none of the pivots proved successful. He expressed gratitude for the experience and the support of the Tucson community, emphasizing that he'll be focusing on his restaurant ventures moving forward. While Flora's Market Run is closing, remnants of its legacy will live on through dishes like the spinach artichoke dip and The Rachel at Commoner & Co and Prep & Pastry respectively
