PETALING JAYA: Malaysia's aviation industry is on the road to recovery despite the setback during the pandemic, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

"This is because we have 45% of domestic flights and close to 70% of international flights back in operation," said the Transport Minister in a Facebook post after meeting Federal Aviation Administration acting director Billy Nolen during a bilateral meeting with the US at the International Civil Aviation Organisation headquarters in Montreal on Sept 30.

"We both agreed that Malaysia and the US have enjoyed strong bilateral and working relationship and have expressed my gratitude to the FAA for its guidance to ensure the safety of the aviation sector. Dr Wee said the 30-minute discussion was on several topics, including environmental sustainability with the use of our sustainable aviation fuels, cyber resilience and drone regulatory landscape.

"We will continue the engagement with our US counterparts to continue our collaboration in ensuring the safety and security of the aviation industry," he added.
