Remote work has helped workers shake the old tradition of moving to where the work was, which was often big cities. Now people bring their work with them, and are instead focusing on the amenities that best suit their lifestyles, such as outdoor amenities or a small-town feel, Hock said. While incentives are unlikely to be the only reason for a worker to relocate, they are an"extra push" to encourage workers to pull the trigger and move, although they tend to resonate most with those who have an existing connection to the community, the study found.
