The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has ordered Norfolk Southern to cover the costs of cleanup from the derailment that toppled 38 rail cars in East Palestine, Ohio. No one was hurt, but concerns over an explosion led state and local officials to approve releasing and burning toxic vinyl chloride from five tanker cars.of half of East Palestine and the surrounding area near the Pennsylvania border.

Shapiro said Norfolk Southern will pay $5 million to reimburse fire departments for equipment that was contaminated or damaged in the response and $1 million to Beaver and Lawrence counties to help business owners and residents whose livelihoods were damaged.

So what about the people though... Governments realize if they just keep paying 'companies' 'businesses' which is just people owning other people... The people just living get nothing. So how about u just pay the people so they can go about their Business or lives or both...

Shapiro might ask to have it declared a superfund site!

Never forget the Ohio EPA and Ohio Governor signed off on burning the chemical off.

Also, I notice that this money is going to state and other agencies and businesses not directly to the individual property owners. They were given $1000? What is their land cannot be used or they completely lose their business because people are afraid to buy or grow?

Wondering about gardens and farms safely raising crops and veg. People want to know if they can use their own land safely. Is anyone addressing this concern? Some properties show ash from the burn throughout the lawns. Is this safe? Ground water?

What are they going to pay to the citizens that they endangered?
