Nicola Sturgeon's husband Peter Murrell has been arrested in connection with an investigation into the funding and finances of the Scottish National Party.
Police are carrying out searches at different properties, including the couple's Glasgow home, as they question the 58-year-old. In a statement released this morning, a spokesman for Police Scotland said: "A 58-year-old man has today, Wednesday, April 5, been arrested as a suspect in connection with the ongoing investigation into the funding and finances of the Scottish National Party.

Incredibly sad news. SNP are by no means perfect but I genuinely view them as the party that takes the worst of the sting out of UK Gov austerity policy. Deeply disappointed and worried for the future of Scotland.
It's almost as if the coppers have waited until Sturgeon was replaced before nicking him. Imagine she hadn't resigned? Would the leader of Scotland's husband still be in handcuffs today?
