SANTA CLARA — Fresh waves of layoffs have battered the Bay Area job market after several tech companies revealed plans to slash well over 400 more jobs in the nine-county region, official state documents show.
TTM Technologies, Clari, Wolfspeed, BlackLine Systems and Robinhood Markets are the latest high-tech companies to disclose their decisions to eliminate jobs in the Bay Area, according to new WARN notices filed with the state Employment Development Department.Here are the details of the most recent tech industry layoffs affecting workers in the Bay Area, according to the WARN letters sent to the EDD:— Clari, a software company, is chopping 139 jobs in Sunnyvale.
— Wolfspeed, a maker of silicon carbide that can be used in electric vehicles, renewable energy systems as well as the aerospace and defense industries, is eliminating 50 jobs in Morgan Hill.— Robinhood Markets, a financial services tech company, or fintech, is cutting 3 jobs in Menlo Park.During 2022 and so far in 2023, tech companies have revealed plans to eliminate more than 28,300 jobs in the Bay Area. Of these, more than 17,900 job cuts have been disclosed so far in 2023.
