As the Malaysian fashion industry continues to expand, we’re seeing more and more new faces entering the scene, eager to make their mark in the modelling world.
Hi Gbril, thanks for sitting down with us today. Can you tell us a bit about you and how you got started in the modelling scene? Before I came into the industry, I was the usual rebel without a cause, but then the thought of trying modelling just sneaked into my mind. I remember telling myself, “Huh, this could be interesting,” and feeling curious about the industry.
Throughout my career, Masyadi Mansoor has been a guiding light. He spotted my potential when I was just starting out, back in the year I made my debut at the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week . His belief in me has been unwavering, helping me shape my path in the fashion world in ways I could never have imagined.
Aside from modelling, you’ve also ventured into the acting world and have always shown interest in the creative industry. Can you share with us that experience? The creative industry has been on my radar forever. From the shadows to the spotlight, I’ve been carving my path for years now. This industry is where I navigate, calculate, and stay focused on my next move—it’s where I get to play and grow as an individual.
There’s also the pressure to always be at your best; whether it’s nailing that audition or looking flawless on set, you have to be at the top of your game at all times. But you know what they say: What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.I’ve faced tonnes of rejection in both the modelling and acting industries, and heck, I still do. But I don’t beat myself up for it, in fact, I see it as an opportunity to grow. It’s not easy, but I choose to learn from it.
Who knows what the future holds, right? For now, I’m just focused on doing what I love and seeing where my passion can take me. If opportunities come knocking in other industries, I’ll definitely consider them, but as of now, I’m content to keep doing my thing and seeing where the journey leads. To the future stars, these industries aren’t for the faint of heart. It’s definitely a tough game, but if you’ve got the grit and determination to overcome the obstacles, you might just make it.
