Earlier this month, Downtown Charlottetown Inc. announced its Downtown Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market would move from Queen Street to the lawn in front of Founders’ Food Hall.

“Upon further investigation, the parks and recreation department had concerns that the site may not meet the expectations of DCI, particularly from the perspective of the overall size of the space,” said Frank Quinn, parks and recreation manager.Other locations – such as those suggested by the public and vendors – fall outside the business improvement area that DCI operates.

“We do have a slight concern with the turf kind of thing, but we think we can work around that and work with the group,” said Quinn. “Who knows? This might be the best location ever.” Another question was parking. The Charlottetown Area Development Corporation owns a paid parking lot in front of Confederation Landing, and Bernard asked whether this was free on Sundays.
