'After the pandemic we noticed more people wanted to go on holidays'

Sue Drinkwater, along with her husband Steven and her parents Harold and Anne Hardman, run Alpha Personal Credit in Accrington. The Avenue Parade- based business specialises in all kind of currencies and sells foreign currency.

Sue, from Accrington, said: “It feels brilliant to reach 50 years. I don’t think there are many businesses in Accrington that have stayed open this long. “The response has been fantastic from the community. We have seen generations of families grow over the years.“We have seen grandparents come in with their grandchildren. We have a tub of sweets on the counter and people tell us their grandma told them about the sweet tub when she would visit us.Harold and Anne opened the business in June 1974 after Harold was inspired to open up his own business after working for a company that specialised in personal loans.
