Bundesliga giants FC Augsburg have made their way to South Africa for their first ever pre-season outside Europe, but the club has taken their trek to the Mpumalanga province a step further with a significant investment off the field.The club, coached by Jess Thorup, will pit themselves against TS Galaxy and Young Africans respectively, in a series of friendly matches as part of the Mpumalanga Premier's National Cup.
Over and above their exploits on the field, the Schaffer brothers as Augsburg is known, will be fully immersing themselves in the province with visits to landmarks such as the Kruger National Park during their stay.
