Seattle's Restaurant Alliance is warning of cutbacks, and cost spikes as a result of an increase in the city's minimum wage.

“If the tide rises too fast, all you do is end up drowning,” said Charlie Anthe, who owns Mochi Mochi in Ballard. “This isn't a rising tide, this is a tsunami.”

Hollingsworth pulled back the legislation and deferred to Harrell who formed a task force. It was unable to find a compromise, leading to Harrell’s announcement. Anthe says he has split tips among all his staff and said the starting wage in his restaurant is $25 an hour. He claims the change, across the board without the tip credit, will cause an increase in prices or a reduction in services.Bri Martinez works at a bar and restaurant on Capitol Hill and said she’s excited about the raise.
