The eThekwini Municipality's Disaster Management Centre in KwaZulu-Natal is on high alert

The South African Weather Service has issued a warning for heavy rain and severe thunderstorms in Gauteng on Sunday, which could result in localised flooding.

Spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi has urged motorists to use alternative routes and avoid driving in low-lying flooded roads.
