Walmart also boosted its guidance as customers buy more than groceries. Lowe's — The home improvement retailer's shares fell 1.7%. Although the company reported a top- and bottom-line beat in the fiscal third quarter, it estimates sales will fall year over year.

BioNTech — Shares gained 1.9% after Evercore ISI upgraded the German biotechnology company to outperform from in line.
