CANADIAN CONSTRUCTION ASSOCIATION — Construction industry leaders recently descended on Parliament Hill for the Canadian Construction Association’s Hill Day. Hill Day, reiterating their stance that the federal government must cut unnecessary red tape in order to bolster the country’s critical infrastructure demand.

Outdated procurement strategies, labour shortages and the lack of adequate investment are barriers that prevent the industry from reaching its full potential, states a release from the association.Investing in long-term infrastructure, with a focus on housing, transportation and trade-enabling projects.Modernizing procurement processes and cutting unnecessary red tape.

“It’s not promises that build the economy – it’s construction. It drives growth, creates jobs and builds and maintains the essential infrastructure we all depend on,” says Rodrigue Gilbert, CCA president, in a statement. “To secure Canada’s future, we need to invest in infrastructure, expand our workforce and modernize procurement. Together, we can build a stronger, more resilient Canada.
