Updated: Dec. 25, 2024, 12:10 p.m.The Carroll County Sheriff's office released this mugshot of Austin Potocki.Police arrested a York County man in connection with the ambush killing of his business partner in Maryland after a series of disagreements that may have been on the cusp of prompting a lawsuit, authorities said.
The injured passenger gave investigators names of people who may have targeted the men. Potocki became the primary suspect after an interview a few days after the shooting, according to the sheriff’s office. Potocki fired multiple shots at Billings’ pickup truck from east of the intersection, then fled in a vehicle he’d parked nearby, according to the sheriff’s office.said their officers assisted Carroll County detectives with developing and serving search warrants and conducting surveillance on Potocki’s home. Police said they recovered the same kind of rifle used in the killing, as well as shell casings they say Potocki tried to destroy at his home.
