Western traffic officials say the bus had been travelling on an alternative route for motorists avoiding the violent protests in the area.

Bitou Muncipality spokesperson Manfred Van Rooyen says police are investigating the cause of the incident. Efforts are underway to tow the bus.Plettenberg Bay: Three people died, 43 injured with multiple injuries were rushed to hospital, 2 others are still trapped under a bus. Bus driver lost control while driving on the alternative road as the N2 is still closed due to a protest.
