China to ban plastic products in parts of country via SABCNewsOnline

Jointly issued by the country’s National Development and Reform Commission as well as the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the guidelines also pointed out that by 2022, the country will have greatly reduced the consumption of plastic products and substitutes of plastic products will be widely promoted.

In addition, the Commission said, the country will introduce new rules on the use and recycling of plastic products and will also make clear which ones are banned outright. Documents also said the new regulations will cover the complete process of plastic production, consumption and recycling, adding that they will cover traditional industries, as well as the rising e-commerce and delivery services.
