The struggling national carrier is expecting R2 billion from National Treasury before the end of this week.
South African Airways says it’s doing everything possible to avoid further deterioration of its financial position.between Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban and 10 return flights to the city of Munich in Germany.SAA which was placed under voluntary business rescue is battling to stay afloat ahead of the arrival of a R2 billion cash injection from government.
“Everybody is working incredibly hard, the business rescue practitioners, the government and the management and board of SAA – to make sure that we have that sustainable future and we create a bridge to the moment that additional funding that we do require is received by the airline.”Meanwhile the National Transport Movement president Mashudu Raphetha says they are optimistic that the problems at SAA will soon be resolved.
Raphetha says: “Funding will be made available before the end of the week and we were also assured that workers will even receive salaries on time. We have passed the stage where we blame anyone at the current moment. We are looking at government to ensure that the 10 000 direct employees at SAA, not only them but even 45 000 of those who are in the borders of the republic.
SAA should become N.G.O..there best is always there worst..as long as government has sticky fingers ..cash is always goons dissapear into there pockets..privatise man please
It's like loadshedding 😂😂
What is the COO,CFO,CEO and the Board of SAA doing if the Government and the tax payer must bail them out, year after year after year? Surely, their most important task is to increase revenue(sales) reduce cost and to become profitable. They have failed miserably.
Cancellation of flight is not the best option. Thats bring uncertainty and definitely will affect the future bookings.
Report Dudu Myeni and all the roque administrators to the police and let them payback the money they stole ..... That’s the best SAA can do . All talk no action is not helping out .
