Defence and Military Veterans Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula has called on the Lesotho government to ensure that the witnesses involved in the murder case against the country’s First Lady, Maesaiah Thabane are protected.Maesaiah stands accused of killing Prime Minister Tom Thabane’s estranged wife Lipolelo in 2017.
Mapisa-Nqakula says the region can’t be tasked with something that must be provided by a sovereign government. “If there are witnesses to this kind of case then the country must take responsibility in protecting those witnesses. I don’t think that for every little thing the government of Lesotho must take responsibility.”
“It can’t be that for every little small [thing] you push to the region to take responsibility. The region is involved in big stuff, we have a mediator in the form of the president of the republic of South Africa,” explains Mapisa-Nqakula.This entry was posted on 07 Feb 2020,12:40PM at 12:40 PM and is filed under
NtateLebusa Telling same suspect to protect witnesses, it’s strange because same suspect is in control in the country
Am sure they thought about that, you haven't finished your duties here...
Innocent until proven guilty. No body knows who actually killed the former first lady
Taking sides already
Sophie_Mokoena I would imagine SA should have adviced Prime Minister to step aside so that all matters relating to this murder are handled without him. Currently he stil calls the shots everywhere and no witness would feel save
Sophie_Mokoena While witnesses in Sindiso Magaqa case cannot be protected
Protected from what or who?
I thought Lesotho was a sovereign state capable of handling its affairs without interference.
