ILIGAN CITY - The local government of Iligan City led the groundbreaking ceremony for its P590-million market in Pala-o on Thursday (February 20).

– The local government of Iligan City led the groundbreaking ceremony for its P590-million market in Pala-o on Thursday .Regencia said the budget was sourced from the savings of the city government from 2013 to 2019.

The project is a two-storey building with a roof deck and a total floor area of 20,218 square meters at P29,181.92 per square meter.Councilor Ian Uy ,Chairman of Committee on Infrastructure said “the old Pala-o public market was built in the 1960s located at the central business district of Barangay Pala-o with a lot area of 9,735 square meters donated by the Laya family to the city government.”

Regencia signed the Notice to Proceed at the Mayor’s office just after the groundbreaking ceremony with the presence of winning bidder, BM Marketing representative and owner, Mark Tiu. Tiu said they will tap about 80 percent of the manpower and workforce from Iligan City and will complete the project in August 2021.

The vendors were temporarily relocated at the newly constructed infrastructure within the Iligan Bus and Jeepney Terminal Complex in Barangay Hinaplanon.
