president Cyril Ramaphosa on Sunday delivers the Raymond Mhlaba Memorial Lecture in Vryheid in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
Mhlaba who was the first premier of the Eastern Cape died in February 2005 and would have turned 100 years had he lived. Mhlaba was honoured with the ANC’s highest award, Isithwalandwe in 1992 for his role in the liberation struggle, and the Moses Kotane Award in 2002 for his contribution to the running of the South African Communist Party.He served at Robbin Island alongside with other ANC leaders including the late president Nelson Mandela.
