The House Committee on Food and Agriculture is eyeing to pass a consolidated bill seeking the creation of Coconut Farmers and Industry Trust Fund before Congress adjourns sessions on March 14.

Quezon 1st district Rep. Wilfrido Mark Enverga, chairman of the panel, assured farmers’ groups that they would exhaust all means to ensure the passage of the bill next month.

Last week, the House panel tackled the consolidated bill presented by technical working group , chaired by partylist Rep. Sharon Garin “We are still waiting for PCA’s detailed projection to ensure proper spending of initial P5 billlion Coconut Industry Development Plan,” he said.Enverga said they requested the PCA to submit its additional budgetary requirement for the expansion of its office as well as the specific and detailed list of programs that would fall under each criteria of spending P5 billion.

Under the unnumbered consolidated bill, PCA is tasked to prepare the Coconut Industry Development Plan, which shall be approved by the President.
