Oil palm company in Sitiawan fined RM40,000 over workplace death

IPOH, March 5 — The Sessions Court here fined RM40,000 a palm company after its representative pleaded guilty to workplace negligence that led to the death of a worker. The offence is punishable by a fine of not more than RM50,000, a jail sentence of not more than two years, or both. Muhammad Akmal, who was a passenger in a shovel machine, died after the shovel machine lost control and overturned while descending from the slope.
