Wearing a mask compulsory at 40 markets from April 12; police attended to more than 20 cases where people refused to obey safe distancing instructions

SINGAPORE - People should wear a mask when shopping at any market, the National Environment Agency has said.

Reusable masks have been made available to all residents since April 5, and people can still collect them at community clubs and residents' committee centres across the island until Sunday. In more than 20 cases, the police were also called in as people were not cooperative despite repeated instructions to leave clustered areas. The Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources repeated its warning that failure to comply with circuit breaker measures will be met with firm action.

What the wait for, when tax & Etc... it is always 12 midnight! It’s about people getting infected!

Are there more measures that can help reduce the number of shoppers at these popular places (wet markets, Bukit Timar Hill, etc.)? How about giving staggered timings to people based on postal codes?

Let’s be considerate and all wear mask - properly: that means covering mouth & nose - everywhere in public! 😷 Looking forward for seeing everyone’s smiles again only after we get control of this thing.

Police please fine them on the spot, a warning notice is just a piece of paper. When police or ambassodor turn their back people binned it.

Like this, sure many issues this Sunday. Better deploy more NEA and Police officers at the markets...
