HANOI (VNA/ANN): Two trucks hit a farm vehicle in Vietnam's central highlands Dak Nong province on Saturday, killing five people and leaving five others seriously wounded, Vietnam News Agency has reported on Saturday morning (June 13).

The accident happened at around 6am near the famous Central Highland market place in Dak Mil District when two trucks, which were on the same direction, collided with a tractor from the opposite direction, according to local authorities.Further investigation is underway.

Between January and May, as many as 5,508 traffic accidents occurred in Vietnam, killing 2,667 people, severely injuring 1,547 people and slightly injuring 2,418 others, according to the country's Traffic Police Department.reported that a truck has flipped after plunging into a market in Dak Nong Province, crushing several motorbikes.

Three people were killed instantly and two died in a hospital after a truck ploughed into a Dak Nong market early Saturday morning.A truck suddenly crashed into another truck and several motorbikes parked by the side of the street before plunging straight into the No.312 Market, whereupon it flipped and crushed several people, mostly vendors.

While three people died on the spot, seven were rushed to the Tay Nguyen General Hospital in the nearby Dak Lak Province, where two succumbed to their injuries and the remaining are in critical condition, said doctor Nguyen Quang Son, head of the hospital’s emergency department.Preliminary investigation shows that the truck lost control after having a flat tire, said Tran Van Thuong, chairman of Dak Mik District.
