We asked CEOs from 24 companies like HP and Prudential how they planned to root out systemic racism within their organizations. Here are the 5 main takeaways.

After speaking with 24 organizations, here are some of the takeaways.Many companies are looking inward as an early step and created working groups, started listening sessions, and launched diversity councils to learn from workers the key areas that need to be addressed.

Edward Jones is hosting Zoom talks called "Courageous Conversations," and more than 2,000 employees attended the talks last week, with a dozen more sessions scheduled for the weeks ahead. Employees are able to share their own experiences and listen to others. HP CEO Enrique Loras said he is not happy with the number of Black employees at his company and that he and his executive leadership team have created a task force to fix the low hiring numbers.

Pfizer is committed to achieving 25% minority representation in the US at the VP and above level by 2025, up from 19% currently. CEO Albert Bourla also wrote that at the global level, it has committed to 47% of women at the VP and above level by 2025, up from 33% today.Companies are also ponying up funding for a slew of initiatives and charities aimed at everything from expanding educational opportunities for Black Americans, to promoting social justice and racial equity.
