Sanuvox president Jocelyn Dame said the Steromask, which was produced by Sanuvox in partnership with French engineering company Ingenica, would allow health authorities to save 90 per cent on the cost of masks, which are in short supply. Although it has been approved for use in France, health authorities here have been slow to approve it, Dame said, adding that the company submitted the device for approval both in Canada and France at around the same time.
Dame said the Steromask was tested and the results were sent to authorities at Health Canada, but the approval process has been frustratingly slow. Dame said the company has received many inquiries about the device. Dentists’ offices are particularly interested, he said, because they will need to purchase many masks to protect both staff and patients.
Canada can’t get medical devices because of red tape. No surprise here Canada is great at making red tape.
