An accountant and a company director have been arrested as part of a suspected £70,000 furlough fraud.
Digital devices and business records were also seized in an operation that took place just days after MPs were warned by HMRC officials that they suspect up to £3.5 billion has been overpaid as part of the Coronavirus Jobs Retention Scheme .The programme covers up to 80% of an employee’s salary if they cannot work and are furloughed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
‘While most employers have used the scheme responsibly, this is taxpayers’ money and HMRC will not hesitate to act on reports of abuse of the scheme.’
Ha fucking ha!! People like me who have had a tax return in since 2004..but, missed 2017/18... Due to disability, So got nada! No family, no help, so, i will be kicking off when they start trying to claw back the money its all cost! The 5% who got no help... Should be exempt!!
the European News were reporting how many 100s millions had been embezzled throughout the EU over the years. That’s probably why the EU haven’t been properly audited for the last 20 years
