While she worked at Bain & Co., she climbed up the ladder from entry-level consultant to senior vice president. she'd pursue engineering rather than consulting if she had a do-over.

Hafner now oversees two major websites — OpenTable and Kayak — that connect consumers to millions of travel and dining reservations.
