The pandemic created a turbulent financial environment for SMBs, and their interest in open banking services to help manage their finances has grown as a result

As a result, those SMBs have assumed more debt and have become more interested in accounting and cash flow tools: These two services are the most commonly used by UK SMBs from open banking providers, per Ipsos MORI and OBIE.

The survey found that a lack of comprehension regarding open banking benefits and concerns over sharing data with third parties are the primary reasons why SMBs don't adopt these services. Thus, open banking providers should focus their marketing around how open banking data can enhance cash flow management and accounting.
