Restaurants Association of South Africa chairperson Wendy Alberts said: “The decision has decimated the industry, they have closed our industry without any consultation or without any warnings whatsoever. Every single day I have been receiving phone calls about restaurants closing their doors for good.”“Off-site alcohol consumption is what many restaurants rely on and restaurants have played their part, but now they do not seem to care about any of us,” she said.

These include a stricter curfew time, a ban on the country’s beaches, as well as a prohibition on the sale of alcohol.
