Finance Minister Birmo says targeted financial support for struggling Australian businesses in 2021 will seek to build on record levels of workforce participation.

Finance Minister Simon Birmingham says targeted financial support for struggling Australian businesses in 2021 will seek to build on record levels of workforce participation. “We don’t want to prop up activities where people may need to adjust their business model, may need to adjust their circumstances for the future,” he told Sky News.

The aviation industry is just one of many sectors which has had to pivot in response to the coronavirus due to a significant decrease in demand. Mr Birmingham said, “elements of corporate travel and international travel may not look in the future like they did in the past.” He touted the Morrison government’s successful economic strategies which were introduced during the pandemic, citing a report which showed unemployment had fallen from 15 per cent to 6.6 per cent.
