Santam sees 47% drop in overall earnings eNCA

The Santam Commercial and Personal intermediated business reported negative growth for the period.

It follows lower new business acquisition and the premium support provided to ease financial pressure on policyholders. The company provided total premium relief of R310-million to motor policyholders because of reduced travelling during the lockdown.And, despite the tough economic environment, the insurer benefited from more people getting car insurance.

One of its subsidiaries, MiWay achieved growth of seven-percent despite R40-million of premium relief provided to policyholders.
