With the impeded rollout of the coronavirus vaccine and end of the JobKeeper program- small business will have to be “watched closely” says Executive Director of the Menzies Institute Nick Cater.

With the impeded rollout of the coronavirus vaccine and eof the JobKeeper program- small business will have to be “watched closely” says Executive Director of the Menzies Institute Nick Cater. “I think support for business will have to be watched considerably because in the end that is the lifeblood of our economy- particularly small business- and if we lose that we lose jobs”, he said.

Mr Cater agreed that the government needed to be careful to not overpromise anything regarding the vaccine where there were several complications and uncertainties surrounding distribution. Despite this, he maintained the government distribution is “going well” considering Australia has a less immediate timeframe and access to vaccine supplies compared to countries in Europe.
