Godzilla vs. Kong is a huge increase on Wonder Woman 1984, which held the previous post-coronavirus opening weekend record.

"While it's half of what it would be under normal circumstances, the weekend is a clear and positive indication that moviegoing has inherent strengths that aren't going away," he said.Cinemas are not allowed to reopen here until 17 May at the earliest, but major chains includingUK cinemas are still closed - meaning Britons have to watch Godzilla vs Kong on their TVs

In the meantime, Godzilla vs. Kong is only available to watch in the UK on premium streaming platforms such as Amazon Prime Video and Sky Store. It remains to be seen whether recently released blockbusters that would normally have hit cinemas will get a delayed outing on the UK's big screens come May, or whether cinemas will initially have to rely on retro films as they did when the first lockdown eased last summer.

Other recent films that have had to skip cinemas in the UK include a new Tom and Jerry caper and Disney's latest animated adventure, Raya and the Last Dragon, which went straight to Disney+ last month.

Paying to see a CGI pos movie 😂

My family and I watched GodzillavsKong2021 last night on Amazon Prime. Paid £15.99. Loved it! Love the CGI. 😊

According to a report in the major Russian newspaper Kommersant , Ukraine has prepared a document authorizing the launch of an attack on Donbas. 4 NATO ships are heading to the southwestern border of Crimea

That is profoundly sad, particularly in nations in which the people are supposed to make decisions affecting how others live.

GodzillaVsKong Probably a load of rubbish but, total fantasy & escapism. Maybe just what everybody need right now.

Watched it yesterday, absolutely dreadful

This one will be interesting:

Amazing film, I had my concerns over it but I admit, I was wrong, it was amazing, soundtrack was great, CGI was amazing human element has been toned down to allow for stunning fight scenes. Is it perfect....no, but it's vastly better than King of the Monsters

I liked the bit where Kong showed his vaccine passport to Godzilla and put on a mask to make him feel safe as they battled to the death amongst the skyscrapers.

Post COVID record? What's the current record holder? Surely there isn't much in the way?

Wouldn't bother film is awful worst film I've seen in ages.

Shame it's a bad movie.
