The Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation says they will honour the late Archbishop’s wish that there be no lavish spending for his funeral. DesmondTutu

Archbishop Desmond Tutu makes a point as he addresses a meeting March 16, 2001 to raise awareness for World Tuberculosis Day.

In a statement, the Foundation says the Arch made it clear that he wanted the cheapest coffin available and that a bouquet of carnations from his family be the only flowers in the cathedral. The public has also been invited to lay wreaths and flowers at the St Mary’s Cathedral in Johannesburg this week, between 9am and 6pm. Tutu served as the first black dean of this world-famous cathedral. The City of Cape Town says there will be numerous road closures around the City Hall ahead of the interfaith tribute service Wednesday evening in honour of the late Archbishop Tutu. These include Parade, Darling, Buitenkant and Lower Plein streets.

China has taken a hard line on the issue of Tibet and the exiled Dalai Lama over the decades. He was denied a visa to attend Tutu’s 80th birthday celebration in 2011.

Mosadi wa Lempetje lamo tseba.....

Arch Desmond Tutu knew thieves in Government were gonna eat money meant for his funeral. Kudos to him in spirit.

Funeral looters will be highly disappointed

Khongolose looters won't be too pleased. They were already salivating at the thought of funeral tenders

You have to Stand Up for yourself, No one is gonna be with you on the way to Success because the path of Success is very hard and only few can go over it. I earned over R350,000 thanks to AMBREYMARCUS1

Eish! sabcnews ANCgov won't like the sound of that. They always see funerals as quick money making opportunity. BantuHolomisa I trust you Mhegebe. Don't allow those thieves to use government money for their selfish needs. Like they to your father Tata Madiba and Stepmom Winnie
