New Year celebrations in KwaZulu-Natal could be severely impacted by heavy rains that are expected in the province Friday night and on Saturday. NewYearsEve NewYear2022

However, KwaZulu-Natal is set to remain wet with the South African Weather Service having issued a yellow level 2 weather warning for most parts of the province.

Forecaster Wisani Maluleke is urging motorists and residents to exercise extreme caution on the wet roads. “We expecting a 60% chance of showers and thundershowers. We also have a warning for severe thunderstorms in most parts of the province where we expecting a yellow level 2 of severe thunderstorms which might lead to heavy downpours. So we expect strong damaging winds, hail and excessive lighting and then even flooding across most part of the province. Mostly the western parts of the province, Giants castle, Ladysmith those areas are like to get heavy rain and thunderstorm activity.
