Her curiosity about medicine began early, she said, long before she enrolled at Cornell University to study nutritional sciences. Her father worked for the United Nations and she grew up living in several places around the world, and spending summers in New York with her maternal grandparents. She moved to upstate New York and lived with her aunt and uncle for her senior year of high school. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in 1998, Limann attended New York Medical College, studying internal medicine with the goal of becoming a primary care physician.
