Residents of Langeni in Xhora, formerly known as Elliotdale in the Eastern Cape, live in appalling conditions with no basic services.

They have appealed for assistance. The village has no water, no toilets, no electricity and no access roads.Residents say they feel like they still live in the era before 1994. They say no government services have ever come their way. The only service they have access to is the payment of social grants but they have to walk for over an hour through a thick bush and cross the uMbhashe River to reach the social grant service station.

“We don’t have an access road. We are struggling. Even our forefathers struggled. When a person dies, men carry them on their shoulders. If a woman is in labour they carry her on a ladder. Women sometimes give birth on the way while she’s carried by men. We’ve been saying the same thing but nothing comes to us. No electricity. We only see toilets when visiting other places,” says Nase.

I agree, the people keep voting for the ANC so let them deal with the consequences. BUT I think there is a case for reporting this government to the World Human Rights Council of the United Nations for grossly abusing these people.

Serves them right they voted for who they voted for they must suffer in peace

Tell them ndithe bavile, that is what you get from continuing to vot for MYANC and please do not tell us anything about EASTERNCAPEGOV people. let them continue to suffer PutSouthAficansFirst

They will call Cutting edge

It's appalling how money is spent on name changes at the expense of basic services. This must be the dumbest communities who support this than their basic needs. wow, this explains why the ruling parties have such a stranglehold. THEY EASY TO CON, THESE PEOPLE.

What is really surprising is they vote ANC all the time.

Good, Eastern Cape is the pits.
