Uber Canada has announced that it will no longer require riders to wear masks as of later this week but at least one Toronto taxi company is keeping the requirement in place for the time being.

A spokesperson for Uber told CP24 that customers outside of Quebec will no longer be required to wear masks when using the ridesharing service as of April 22.

“We still strongly recommend wearing a mask depending on personal risk factors and infection rates in your area,” the spokesperson said. In Ontario masks do continue to be mandatory in a number of high-risk settings, including in hospitals, long-term care homes and on public transit.

Hell yeah finally

I never use Uber anyway...just another reason to never start using them.

Finally

Wtf is a 'taxi company'? 🤔

And watch how quick these already struggling taxi companies will lose market share to Uber.

Well, there goes that choice. I'll never take an Uber.

Maybe I have trouble reading but if they're no longer required to wear masks then why would drivers be permitted to have riders wear one and cancel if they refuse? Also they stopped the take photo wearing a mask for drivers prior to going online but drivers are still to wear one

Poll: Ban Uber in 🇨🇦?
